An impressive guest list is building for Coolio’s next album, being recorded now in L.A. and due in 1999. Lined up so far are Will Smith, R. Kelly, Scarface and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s Krayzie Bone, with Organized Noize, Trackmaster and the Bad Boys team among the producers. Coolio also has a duet with the Wu-Tang Clan’s Ol’ Dirty Bastard called “The Park,” which will be on the soundtrack to the indie film “Slam.” . . .

Jewel’s follow-up to her smash 1994 debut “Pieces of You” might join the list of highly anticipated albums for the Christmas selling season. The singer is currently recording with Madonna collaborator Patrick Leonard, with tentative plans for release before the end of the year. . . .

De La Soul is recording a new album, due next spring, in between duties hosting the Lyricist Lounge tour showcasing both national and local talent around the country. The tour reaches L.A. on Sept. 17 with a House of Blues show that includes a performance by Slick Rick.
