Eastern Areas Bask in Record Warmth

Golf courses were packed in Indiana, tennis courts were mobbed in Pennsylvania and people strolled past the Christmas tree at New York’s Rockefeller Center in T-shirts as record-breaking warm weather settled in across the eastern two-thirds of the United States. For days now, temperatures have been as much as 20 degrees above normal in the Northeast, the Midwest and the Rockies. Cooling is expected later this week.
