To send youth referred from the county probation department to a four-day retreat, El Concilio del Condado de Ventura received $4,000. The same amount was awarded to Future Leaders of America for a six-day conference to train ninth-graders in leadership and goal-setting.

Two Latino individuals will be able to attend a nine-month leadership program thanks to a grant of $1,500 to the Ventura County Leadership Academy, and Ventura Youth Employment Services received $2,500 to hire two bilingual youths for office work.

The Destino 2000 fund was established by the community federation in 1996 to build a permanent endowment that would focus on the needs of the county’s Latino community.
