Conexant Systems Hires Senior Vice President

* Dennis E. O’Reilly will join Costa Mesa-based Rockwell International Corp.’s semiconductor systems spinoff company, Conexant Systems Inc., in January as senior vice president and general counsel. O’Reilly previously was director of business development for Intel Corp.’s Mobile and Handheld Products Group. Before that, he was Intel’s group counsel.

* Julie Kim has joined Ware & Malcomb Architects Inc. in Irvine as job captain, responsible for various architectural projects. She was formerly a job captain and designer for TDS Architects of San Jose.

* Renee Shahinian has been named vice president in the new West Coast office of Sky Alland, a customer relationship management company. The new office is in Laguna Hills. Prior to joining Sky Alland, Shahinian worked as director of merchandising for Bombardier Motor Corp. of America. Before that, she was vice president of national account services at BVK/McDonald, an advertising and public relations agency.

* Jessica Bynder is the new communications director of the American Lung Assn. of Orange County. She is a former consultant to Porter Public Relations and, before that, held marketing, supervisory and program management positions with Solid State Devices Inc., an aerospace supplier.

* Deborah L. Cobb has joined Berryman & Henigar as manager of special districts in the Santa Ana office. She was previously district engineer and public finance coordinator at Willdan Associates.

* Randy Kenworthy has been appointed executive vice president of sales and marketing for Advantix Inc. in Newport Beach, a ticketing services company. He was formerly vice president, sales for Customer Insight Co.

* Steve Matlon has been appointed national sales manager at James Hardie Building Products in Mission Viejo. For the past 11 years, he was with Levolor Home Fashion, where he held positions as regional sales manager and in national account sales.

* Don Myers has been appointed general manager at Cafe Tu Tu Tango at the Block in Orange. Myers had been managing partner for five years at the Catch and Hop City Steak House in Anaheim. Before that, Myers was general manager at Scott’s Seafood in Costa Mesa and district manager for El Torito Grill. In addition, Rogelio Fernandez was named executive chef. He previously spent five years as executive chef and corporate trainer at the San Diego and Sacramento locations of Morton’s of Chicago.

* Michael McLean has been named vice president of sales for Toshiba America Medical Systems in Tustin. He had been vice president of Toshiba’s ultrasound business unit. Before joining Toshiba this year, McLean spent two years as vice president and a management board member of Sales Americas, Johnson & Johnson Clinical Diagnostics. He worked at Beckman Instruments for 15 years in a variety of capacities, including director of North American sales and marketing.

* Charles A. McPhee has been appointed vice president of industrial development Southwest for Catellus Development Corp. in Newport Beach. Prior to joining Catellus, McPhee was senior vice president of leasing and operations for the commercial and industrial division of the Howard Hughes Corp.

* Susan Howington has joined Drake Beam Morin, a work force management firm in Newport Beach, as an account executive. She had been with the Geneva Cos. in Irvine for more than eight years, in business development.

* Fredric I. Albert has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Orange County Bar Assn. He is an attorney in the Orange County office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton.

* Steve Gonzalez has been named head brewer for Alcatraz Brewing Co. at the Block in Orange. He previously worked as a brewer for the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Chico.

* James C. Bastian Jr. has been named a partner in the Irvine bankruptcy and commercial litigation firm of Marshack, Shulman & Hodges LLP. Bastian, a director of the Orange County Bankruptcy Forum, worked on the Orange County bankruptcy case, representing the official subcommittee of the county’s vendors and trade creditors.

* Alex Kakavas has joined Action Sports Ltd. in Irvine as vice president of apparel and retail operations. Kakavas was previously director of the international sales division at Jet Apparel Group. He has also worked with the Fifth Third Bank of Cincinnati.
