Follow the bouncing puck?

The Ducks are getting fed up with attempting to get a true bounce on the Arrowhead Pond’s notoriously bad ice surface. Sunday’s poor conditions prompted right wing Teemu Selanne to act.

“I just talked to Tony [Tavares] about it,” Selanne said of a postgame conversation Sunday with the Duck chairman. “We have to make the ice better here. I guess there was a concert here [Saturday] night. And any time they have to put down new ice here, it’s tough to get good ice.”

Selanne said he misfired on several scoring chances because the puck was bouncing and rolling as it came to him. He scored two goals in a 3-0 victory over the Kings, but might have had several more with better bounces on passes to him.

“Maybe we should practice more in this building, so we could get used to it more,” Selanne said. “For the guys who score and pass, it would be a huge advantage to have good ice here.”
