An Orange County grand jury report cites the city as one of five in the county that does not have a formal or documented plan for solving potential year 2000 computer problems. But Gerry Verwolf, the city’s acting communications manager, said the grand jury finding is not cause for alarm, adding that the city will be ready for the millennium.

The city has been working since 1995 on a computer master plan and has a task force addressing year 2000 issues. A final report on the year 2000 problem, which some say could shut down government and businesses because computer systems will fail to recognize the difference between 20th and 21st century dates, will be presented to the City Council in January.
