‘You’ve Got Mail’: Good News for Warner

Warner Bros.’ “You’ve Got Mail” delivered $18.4 million in its first weekend to place No. 1 at the box office. The comedy, which reunites “Sleepless in Seattle” stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, had a per-screen average of $6,848. “Sleepless” took in $17.3 million during its opening weekend in June 1993.

DreamWorks’ “The Prince of Egypt,” a lavish, animated dramatization of the life of Moses, placed second in its opening weekend with $14.5 million.
