Worker Dies After Machine Falls Down Hill
A 22-year-old worker died Monday after an industrial machine he was operating fell over a 100-foot embankment in the Hall Canyon area, Ventura County sheriff’s officials said.
Shane Poehler of Ventura had been grading an area of the canyon about 1:20 p.m. when he lost control of the self-loading scrapper he was operating, deputies said.
Fellow employees administered first aid to Poehler until medical teams arrived on the scene, north of Ventura.
The Ventura County Fire Department airlifted Poehler to Ventura County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The state Division of Occupational Safety and Health will investigate the accident.
