Murray Utilizing Speed, Strength

Share

Right wing Glen Murray has a four-game scoring streak and has a point in six of his last seven games. His 33 points are already a career high, and, with his slashing style and gritty play in front of the net, he complements left wing Vladimir Tsyplakov perfectly.

“Glen Murray has been playing terrific hockey,” Coach Larry Robinson said. “He’s been using his speed and strength. He’s been getting good position and has been playing well in his zone.”

Murray, who was picked up in a trade with Pittsburgh for Eddie Olczyk late last season, and Tsyplakov have been the Kings’ most consistent wingers.

Yanic Perreault centered their line for nearly two months and put up impressive numbers, but Jozef Stumpel was moved to the line three weeks ago when Perreault began to struggle. All Stumpel has done is score a point in eight consecutive games and has moved up among the NHL scoring leaders with 53 points.
