Two bodies found by firefighters inside a burning van have been identified, police said.

Guadalupe Gurrola, 40, and his son Andres, 15, of Compton, were the victims, police said Tuesday.

Gurrola’s 12-year-old daughter, Diana, said she cannot understand why anyone would kill her father and brother.

“They didn’t do nothing to nobody,” she said, holding back tears.

Firefighters found the bodies inside a van parked along 104th Street beneath a Harbor Freeway overpass at 4 p.m. Monday after extinguishing a blaze in the vehicle. Both bodies had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso and were wedged between the back seats of the van, Los Angeles Police Det. Sal LaBarbera said.

A gasoline can was found in the vehicle’s front seat, but the cause of the fire has not been determined, LaBarbera said.

The two victims were last seen leaving their home about 2:30 p.m. on their way to an auto parts dealership in Cerritos, said Det. Kerri Brown.

Investigators have not determine a motive, but police suspect the Gurrolas were killed in an attempted robbery and possible kidnapping, Brown said.
