Not-Guilty Plea Made in Infant’s Drug Death
A woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday in the death of her infant son, who suffered a drug overdose allegedly stemming from breast milk tainted with methamphetamine, a court clerk said.
Cynthia Pinson, 38, of Orange also pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to a child during her arraignment in Orange County Superior Court, the clerk said.
Her 6-week-old son, Robert Henry Sage, died in his crib in October 1996, police investigators said.
Pinson surrendered in January after authorities found traces of methamphetamine in the baby’s body and issued a warrant for her arrest.
Pinson is being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
