The California Correctional Peace Officers Assn. has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the killers of a prison guard who was gunned down last month off the Riverside Freeway.

Elizabeth Ann Begaren, 40, was with her husband, Nuzzi Begaren, and his 10-year-old daughter the night of Jan. 17 when they pulled off the freeway to elude a dark sedan following them. But four men got out of the car and shot Elizabeth Begaren to death, police said.

Begaren was a guard at the California State Prison-Los Angeles County in Lancaster.

“The Anaheim police have been working day and night to locate her attackers, but have no solid leads,” association vice president Mike Jimenez said in a news release. “There may be people out there with information about this case but are hesitant to get involved. We hope this reward will encourage them to do the right thing and contact the police.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Anaheim Police Lt. John Haradon at (714) 765-1927.
