KINGS--DUCKS REPORT

Share

Duck right wing Teemu Selanne said he believes the NHL should test players for drugs, including steroids and other illegal substances, several times each season.

He said he doesn’t believe Sudafed is abused, as a magazine article recently suggested, but he questions the on-ice actions of some players he faces.

“When you see a guy and his eyes are going like this [wide open], you have to wonder,” he said. “It’s like, ‘OK, you can have the puck.’ [Playing under the influence of certain drugs] could cause injuries, for sure. In Europe, they test players a couple of times a year.”

Center Matt Cullen, right wing Peter LeBoutillier, defenseman Pavel Trnka and left wing Bob Wren of the Ducks were returned to Cincinnati of the American Hockey League so they could continue playing during the 17-day Olympic break. LeBoutillier was recalled by the Ducks to play Saturday against the Kings.
