* Mushy Stuff: In case you need a little reminder: Valentine’s Day is Saturday. Though there are dozens of sites that allow you to send virtual valentines, we’ll just start you off with one, https://www.triadnav.com/valentines/. It has sounds to go along with its animated cards. Got a crush on someone and want to know if he or she returns your feelings? Go to Secret Admirer (https://www.SecretAdmirer.com/index.htm). It’s basically an e-mail service that allows you to find out if that special someone is thinking about you too.

Before you do that, you might want to check out the Love Calculator. Just type in your name and the name of your valentine, and the Love Calculator will determine your compatibility. The Love Calculator is at https://www.xs4all.nl/~kink/love/. For more Valentine’s Day fun, check out TheKiss.com (https://www.thekiss.com). You can send e-kisses, get kissing tips or play a game.

If none of this helps snag your dream date, you can always try cookies--Cream Cheese Cut-Outs, Raspberry Hearts or Lollipop Cookie Valentines. The recipes are at https://www.CookieRecipe.com/cat/valentine.asp

* Mob This Site: Valentine’s Day also conjures up thoughts of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre of 1929, when seven rivals of Al Capone’s gang were gunned down in Chicago by men disguised as cops. Da History has a brief history of the Chicago Mob at https://www.psn.net/~fig/mob/history.htm. And if that sort of whets your mob appetite, check out https://www.icsnet.com/~johnc/mobapp.html for an application to join the Mafia. (It’s a joke, by the way.)

* All Right, Anaheim! Anaheim is celebrating a little milestone this

week. On Feb. 10, 1870, the city was incorporated for the first time. It must not have taken, though, because Anaheim wasn’t officially incorporated until 1876. Speaking of official, the official Anaheim Web site (https://www.anaheim.net/) has everything you need to know about the city past and present: There’s a history; info about the Anaheim Resort; a copy of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, a look at how the city gets and spends its funds; city news; a list of classes and programs at the Anaheim Community Services Department and more. Historic Anaheim (https://users.deltanet.com/~mrt/) is all about--you guessed it--historic Anaheim.

* Covered in Ash: The 40 days of Lent start this week, on Ash Wednesday. Why ashes? Check out https://www.kencollins.com/Question-02.htm. For the meaning of Lent, go to https://software.bu.edu/CHAPEL/ChapelWebpages/lent.html. And if you can’t make it to church that day, maybe visiting the Holy See site (https://www.vatican.va/) will count for something.

* Fond of Flapjacks: Wednesday also marks International Pancake Day. There is a collection of pancake recipes--from your basic flapjacks to savory Indian styles--at https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~mjw/recipes/bread/pancakes/pancake-coll.html. Die-hard devotees can meet others like them in the newsgroup alt.food.pancakes. And Pancake the Clown, who claims to be “the only clown in England to have a diploma of clownology from the U.S.,” is at https://www.pancake.co.uk/ with a pancake recipe of his own.
