A 45-year-old Houston man was killed Monday in a crash at the intersection of Jamboree Road and MacArthur Boulevard, police said.

Witnesses said the man, whose name was withheld pending notification of his family, ran a red light in his Acura Integra and crashed into two other cars, Newport Beach investigator Howard Eisenberg said.

The Acura was headed south on Jamboree and entering the intersection about 1 p.m. when it collided with a westbound GMC Yukon, Eisenberg said. Both cars then smashed into a Plymouth Laser waiting in a left-turn lane on MacArthur, he said.

The driver of the Yukon was treated at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach and released. The driver of the third car complained of ankle and back pain but declined medical care, Eisenberg said.

The incident remains under investigation, Eisenberg said.
