Five people, including one firefighter who suffered second-degree burns to his neck, were injured during a Tuesday morning fire that damaged one room of a residential hotel in the 1600 block of Western Avenue in the Los Feliz area, authorities said.

Two residents suffered smoke inhalation, another a broken wrist and another suffered cut feet during the fire that was caused by careless cigarette smoking at the Roxy Hotel, said city Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis.
