SkyWest Airlines said it will expand its Los Angeles operation this spring by initiating United Express service to seven new Southern California markets. On April 23, United Express service on 30-passenger aircraft will begin from Los Angeles International Airport to seven new destinations: Bakersfield, Carlsbad, Fresno, Inyokern, Orange County, Oxnard and Visalia. Schedules are still being finalized. Last October, St. George, Utah-based SkyWest entered into a marketing agreement with United Airlines, becoming a United Express carrier in several Southern California markets for the first time. Once complete, SkyWest’s United Express system will log more than 600 daily flights, making it among the largest regional carriers in the country, airline executives said. Share of parent Skywest Inc. rose 63 cents to close at $40.63 on Nasdaq.
