Public Meetings Set on City Charter Reform

Public meetings on Los Angeles City Charter reform will be held today and next week.

Today, the Los Angeles Elected Charter Reform Commission Committee on a More Responsive City Government With an Involved Citizenry will hold a hearing on proposed changes in City Council districts’ number, size and boundaries, and hear testimony from experts on the timing of municipal elections to increase voter turnout. The hearing will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Alma Reaves Woods-Watts branch library, 10205 Compton Ave., Los Angeles.

On Tuesday, the Elected Charter Reform Commission Committees on a More Responsive City Government, Improving Financial and Managerial Accountability and Quality of Life in Los Angeles will meet at 5 p.m., and the Committee on Improving the Delivery of City Services will meet at 7:15 p.m. at the Department of Water and Power Conference Center, 111 N.
