Racke Sends Savanna to Postseason With Three-Pointer at Buzzer

Senior forward Jamie Racke grabbed a offensive rebound at the free-throw line, dribbled out and made a three-pointer at the buzzer to give host Savanna a 30-27 victory over Anaheim Friday in an Orange League girls’ basketball third-place playoff.

Savanna (8-16, 4-6) earned the league’s final playoff spot. Racke, who is now one-for-one on three-pointers this season, finished with seven points. Cristina Aquino led the team with eight points and eight rebounds.

In Freeway League girls’ basketball:

No. 9 Troy 73, Buena Park 24--Heidi Hardeman scored a game-high 26 points on 12 of 15 shooting and Sarah Spencer had 11 pons for visiting Troy (25-2, 10-0).

Sonora 69, Fullerton 59--Sarah Fister and Lillian Hewko each scored 20 points for Sonora (16-7, 8-2).

In the Olympic League:

Calvary Chapel 72, Orange Lutheran 35--Cathy Joens scored 20 points, had 11 rebounds and 10 assists for Calvary Chapel (21-5, 8-2), which won a share of its first girls’ basketball league title in school history.

In nonleague girls’ water polo:

No. 1 Marina 6, No. 8 Villa Park 4--Jenny Lamb scored a game-high three goals and Erin Wilson added two for visiting Marina. Goalie Candice Chick had six saves for the Vikings (21-5). Brandie Seligman had eight saves for Villa Park (19-6).

No. 2 Los Alamitos 6, No. 5 Irvine 4--Amy Valois scored three goals and Shelli Linza added two for visiting Los Alamitos. Goalie Jackie Frank had 12 saves for the Griffins (17-9). Kirsten Mayberry had eight saves for Irvine (18-7).

No. 4 Newport Harbor 6, Costa Mesa 4--The Sailors held off a late rally. Alden Moore and Jocelyn Manderino each had two goals to lead Newport Harbor (18-6). Amy Devey and Cari Howse each scored two goals for Costa Mesa (11-14).
