Veteran pitcher Mark Gubicza, who was expected to report to spring training with the Dodgers today, announced his retirement.

Gubicza, 35, was sidelined for most of last season with the Angels after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder. He signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on Jan. 12.

Gubicza spent 13 seasons with the Kansas City Royals before being traded to the Angels last season, finishing his career with a 132-136 record and a 3.96 earned-run average.
