Five people were arrested on suspicion of drug offenses this week as police searched 14 homes in an investigation targeting a local street gang, officials said.

Four men and a woman were taken into custody Wednesday during the sweep, Garden Grove Police Sgt. David Kivler said. The searches targeted people alleged to be members of the Silver Acres gang. They followed a January shooting that led to the arrest of three reputed members of that gang on suspicion of attempted murder.

David Fernandez and Barbara Mejia, both 37, and Jorge Acosta, 36, were arrested Wednesday in the 12000 block of Dunklee Lane in Garden Grove, and Paul Ulloa, 19, was taken into custody after a search in the 12600 block of Citruswood Avenue, Kivler said.

An unidentified man was arrested during a search on North Cooper Street in Santa Ana, where police discovered a methamphetamine lab, Kivler said.

Three juveniles, whose names were withheld, were also arrested on probation violations during the searches, Kivler said.
