A 19-year-old man was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon following a possible gang-related stabbing at a midtown party, police said.

It was the second stabbing in less than 24 hours for the nation’s safest big city.

Raymond Molina of Simi Valley was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Sunday on suspicion of attacking another Simi Valley 19-year-old man, whose name was withheld by police.

The two were at a party Saturday night in the 2100 block of Bromfield Street, near Dalenhurst Place, when an argument broke out, said Simi Valley Police Sgt. Karl Becker.

When officers arrived, they took Molina into custody and booked him into Ventura County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is also being investigated for possible gang ties, Becker said.

The victim was taken to Simi Valley Hospital for surgery. He was reported to be in stable condition Sunday evening, police said.

In the earlier incident, James Beck, 26, of Simi Valley was arrested Saturday afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing Raymond Hamilton, 37, of Simi Valley at a Darby Street apartment about 3 a.m. Saturday.

The two stabbings do not appear to be related, police said.
