Driver Killed When Tow Truck Flips Over
A Port Hueneme man died Friday morning when his tow truck veered off the Ventura Freeway in Agoura Hills, hit a dirt embankment and flipped over, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 3:35 a.m. accident killed 26-year-old Pat Shawn Weddel, who had been driving westbound near Chesebro Road at a high rate of speed, Officer Dorian Simpson said.
“His vehicle rolled over one time and landed upside down,” he said. Weddel was wearing a seat belt, Simpson said, and alcohol did not appear to be a factor.
The cause of the accident remained under investigation.
