Blizzard Draws 15,213 and Wins

It was a good night for the New England Blizzard, as the American Basketball League team got a 70-61 victory over the Colorado Xplosion at Hartford, Conn., Saturday night and drew 15,213--the team’s first sellout and an ABL record.

Carolyn Jones made 19 of 20 free throws, both league records, in matching her season high of 32 points to lead the Blizzard.

Jones’ three-point shot with 4:53 left broke a 53-53 tie. She then made four free throws to complete a personal 7-0 run.

New England made 10 consecutive free throws in the final 2:06 to enable the Blizzard to even their record at 14-14.

Crystal Robinson led Colorado (12-16) with 17 points.

Columbus 77, Philadelphia 61--Tonya Edwards scored 19 points before 4,109 at Columbus, Ohio, as the Quest (22-7) won its 12th straight home game.

Columbus was 16 for 32 from the floor in the first half, while the Rage (11-17) was eight for 23.

Portland 77, Atlanta 61--Natalie Williams scored 24 points and had 17 rebounds to lead the Power (18-11) over the Glory (11-16) before 5,434 at Portland.
