DUCKS REPORT / NOTES : Dollas’ Benching Doesn’t Sit Well

Defenseman Bobby Dollas took his benching Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning hard. He had never been a healthy scratch in five seasons in Anaheim.

“I was very upset,” said Dollas, one of three veterans who did not play because of Coach Pierre Page’s decision to shake up the lineup. “If you’re not upset when you’re a healthy scratch then there’s something wrong with you. I didn’t think I deserved to be the odd guy out, but it worked out.”

What angered Dollas most was that he figured he had played well enough to take part in what figured to be a rewarding victory over the Lightning.

“I really wanted to be a part of it,” Dollas said of the Ducks’ 4-1 victory over Tampa Bay.

Dollas returned to the lineup for Sunday’s 3-3 tie against the Florida Panthers and J.J. Daigneault was scratched for only the second time this season.

Winger Scott Young had a season-high three assists Sunday, which made Page think of the player he coached in the early 1990s with the Quebec Nordiques.

“That’s what I saw from him a few years ago in Quebec,” Page said. “He’s a real threat when he plays like that.”
