It Seems Page Has Learned His Lines

After spending most of the season’s first 41 games shuffling his lines, Coach Pierre Page has settled into a fairly consistent rotation the last two games.

Paul Kariya, Steve Rucchin and Teemu Selanne skate on the first line--just as they have for most of the last two seasons.

But Page also stuck with his second and third lines in a 4-1 victory Saturday over Tampa Bay and a 3-3 tie Sunday against Florida.

Tomas Sandstrom, Joe Sacco and Scott Young formed a solid second line, with Sean Pronger, Mark Janssens and Ted Drury playing on the third. Jeremy Stevenson, Warren Rychel and Brent Severyn made up the checking line.

“We still need to find some chemistry with our defense,” Page said. “[But] it looks like we might have found some lines on this trip.”

Page also said he expects to team Rychel with Jeff Nielsen and Kevin Todd to form an energetic checking line that has the potential to score.

Defenseman Dmitri Mironov was named as a reserve on the World team for the NHL All-Star game Jan. 18 at Vancouver. Mironov, the Ducks’ second-leading scorer with 25 points, joins Selanne, who last week was voted to start.

Reserves for the North American team are to be announced today. Kariya, fourth in voting for wingers, is expected to be named.

Rookies Mike Crowley, a defenseman, and Matt Cullen, a center, were sent to Cincinnati of the American Hockey League. The Ducks did not recall anyone from Cincinnati.

They are expected to activate defenseman Jason Marshall from the injured-reserve list this week. Marshall has missed eight games because of a separated right shoulder suffered Dec. 19 against the Phoenix Coyotes.
