Adam Keefe never did it. Brevin Knight never did it.

Kris Weems’ 34 points in seventh-ranked Stanford’s 89-67 rout of Oregon on Monday night at Eugene, Ore., were the most by a Cardinal player since Todd Lichti scored 35 against Arizona in 1989.

“Everything I’ve been working on the last year and a half came together tonight,” Weems said. “After I hit the first couple, the guys kept looking for me. Good teams find the hot guys.”

And Stanford, 13-0 overall and 2-0 in the Pacific 10, is looking like a very good team.

Oregon (6-5, 1-1) trailed, 43-27, at halftime and never got closer than 13 after that.

Weems had 22 points in the second half.

No. 12 New Mexico 98, Texas Christian 77--Clayton Shields tied the New Mexico record with eight three-point baskets and finished with a career-high 34 points at Albuquerque, N.M.

New Mexico (11-1) rode the shooting of Shields and sophomore guard Lamont Long to its 36th consecutive home-court win and gave the nation’s highest-scoring team a lesson in prolific shooting.

TCU (11-4) could not match the Lobos’ scoring-by-committee. Six New Mexico players made three-point baskets.

No. 25 West Virginia 85, Georgetown 70--Damian Owens scored 27 points for the Mountaineers in a Big East game at Morgantown, W.Va.

Adrian Pledger, who was scoreless the last time he played against the Hoyas, added 12 points as West Virginia (13-2, 3-2) beat Georgetown for the first time since joining the Big East three years ago.

Jahidi White scored 10 points for the Hoyas (8-4, 2-3) before fouling out with 9:01 left.
