Cold-Shooting Chapman Manages to Beat Claremont

Although Chapman shot only 31% from the field, the Panthers held off a second-half rally to defeat Claremont, 66-63, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday at Chapman.

Lyndsay Brown, who had 21 points and made 15 of 18 free throws, and Courtney Kanegae, who had eight points and eight assists, both played 40 minutes for Chapman (11-3).

Claremont shot 53% in the second half, but committed 24 turnovers.

In other nonconference games:

Wayland Baptist 72, Concordia 62--Concordia led by six points at the half, but 64% shooting from the field helped to rally Wayland Baptist (13-3). Heather Carll scored 15 points for Concordia (11-4).

In nonconference men’s basketball:

Christian Heritage 84, Southern California College 82 (OT)--Adam Dzierzynski had 33 points, making six of 10 three-pointers, and six assists and Justin McIntee had 23 points for the Vanguards (9-6).
