Martin Powers UCLA Past Oregon, 80-75

Maylana Martin had 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead UCLA to an 80-75 victory over Oregon Saturday at Eugene, Ore.

The Ducks (6-6, 2-2) went on a 12-2 run to tie the game, 62-62, on Brianne Meharry’s free throw with 8:14 to play. But Martin went on to score 10 of UCLA’s next 16 points to help rebuild the lead to 78-71 with just under a minute left.

The Bruins (8-5, 3-1) escaped with only their second win over the Ducks in 10 tries.

Janae Hubbard scored 12, all in the first half, and added eight rebounds, while Erica Gomez contributed 10 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Bruins.

Angelina Wolvert scored all of her 15 points for Oregon in the second half and joined Meharry, who had 15 points and nine rebounds, to lead the Ducks.

Oregon State 57, USC 52--Sissel Pierce’s three-point play with 53.3 seconds remaining put the Beavers (6-7, 1-3) ahead for the first time and they held on to defeat the Trojans (6-7, 1-3) at Corvallis, Ore.

Pierce rebounded a miss by teammate Monica Watts and scored while being fouled by Whitney Houser to tie the score, 52-52. Her free throw gave the Beavers their first lead of the game.

Watts led the Beavers with 20 points. Nicole McAllister had. Adrain Williams led USC with 17 points. Kristen Clark scored 11.

OTHER GAMES

At Knoxville, Tenn., Chamique Holdsclaw scored 37 points to lead No. 1 Tennessee to a 99-60 victory over No. 12 Florida. The Vols (17-0, 4-0) held Florida to 18 first-half points to avenge last year’s loss to the Gators (11-4, 3-1). . . . Reshea Bristol scored 20 points as No. 10 Arizona jumped out to a big first-half lead and beat No. 7 Washington, 93-62, at Tucson.
