Cal State Fullerton 72, North Texas 70--Ike Harmon began Saturday at his uncle’s funeral in Los Angeles and ended it by tipping in a shot with two seconds to play to give the Titans a Big West victory before 1,873 at Denton, Texas.

It was part a 23-point performance which ended Fullerton’s road losing streak at 12. The Titans (6-6, 1-1) hadn’t won on the road since Jan. 25, 1997, when they beat UC Irvine. It was Fullerton’s first victory outside Orange County since beating Montana on Dec. 3, 1996.

Fullerton’s Mark Richardson missed two shots underneath in the last 10 seconds. Harmon then leaped over two North Texas players and batted the ball, which rolled around rim before going in.

No one was happier afterward than Harmon, who finally got to rest after intercepting a pass with one second left, ending any Eagle hopes of a miracle finish.

“It has been a long day,” Harmon said. “I got to the hotel 10 minutes before the team left and I haven’t had a chance to relax all day.”

Harmon made nine of 15 shots and had seven rebounds.

Gabe Moeller scored a career-high 15 points for North Texas (2-10, 1-1).
