A woman shot during a holdup at a warehouse Friday night was on life support and not expected to live, authorities said Sunday.

Irvine police scheduled a 10 a.m. news conference today to release a composite sketch of the assailant, who also tried to rape a co-worker of the critically injured woman.

The women were working the late shift at Lanier Copy Print, 18241 W. McDurmott, when the man accosted one of them in the back of the warehouse about 9 p.m. Friday.

He forced her into a nearby office, where they encountered the second woman, police said.

Apparently startled, the man shot the second woman in the shoulder and head, then tried to rape the first woman, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Irvine Police Det. Larry Montgomery at (714) 724-7173.

The assailant fled in a dark-colored sedan, which may be a Nissan Altima.

The gunshot victim was in extremely grave condition at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
