Slain Man Identified; Officials Seek Family

A 27-year-old man shot to death and found in an embankment last week has been identified but authorities say they have been unable to find any relatives so far.

The African American man was found last Wednesday night 6 feet off North Topanga Canyon Boulevard by a woman walking her dog. Authorities said they used fingerprints to determine his identity.

His name, however, could not be released pending notification of relatives, said Scott Carrier, a spokesman for the Los Angeles coroner’s office.

Authorities believe the man, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was killed elsewhere and dumped at the remote cul-de-sac less than 24 hours before his body was discovered.

He was wearing cold-weather sports attire over jeans and a dress shirt and Gore-Tex hiking boots, authorities said.

The placement of the body next to a small dirt road suggested that the killer knew the area and that the slaying was premeditated, according to authorities.
