LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A maintenance worker who thought he heard the cries of an animal early Tuesday found a newborn baby abandoned outside a Georgia hospital.
Gwinnett Medical Center spokeswoman Paula Martin said the baby boy, wrapped in a towel, was found on the hospital’s front lawn.
“He’s doing very well,” Martin said of the white, male infant.
The baby was placed in the neonatal intensive care unit for observation. Martin said he likely would be released to the Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services in about two days.
She said the baby was estimated to be between two and four hours old when he was found.
