Police captured a pair of robbery suspects after a brief chase into Los Angeles County late Friday, at the same time Los Angeles deputies were chasing a stolen car into Buena Park, authorities said.

“It was like their units were passing our units,” Buena Park Police Lt. Mac McNeilly said.

A man was robbed at gunpoint about 11:25 p.m. outside the Sequoia Athletic Club, at Beach Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue. He flagged down a passing Buena Park police sergeant and described the robbers, McNeilly said.

Officers on a traffic stop at Carmenita Road and the Artesia Freeway saw the suspects’ gold Mazda Millenia and began a chase that took them into Cerritos, McNeilly said.

He said Buena Park police asked for help from a Los Angeles County sheriff’s helicopter, but it was already being used--in Buena Park. Los Angeles County deputies had pursued a stolen car over the county line and were able to pull over and arrest the suspects on Western Avenue in Buena Park, McNeilly said.

At the same time, just before midnight, the Buena Park robbery suspects were caught when they pulled into a cul-de-sac in Cerritos, he said. George Taylor, 22, of Compton and Willie Davis, 23, of Bellflower were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, McNeilly said.
