‘Titanic’ Maintains Its Course

The unsinkable “Titanic” easily won the box-office race over the long Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, the fifth consecutive weekend the film has come in first place, grossing $25 million or more each time. The record for most consecutive weekends as the No. 1 film at the box office is held by the comedy “Home Alone” starring Macaulay Culkin, which debuted in first place on Nov. 16, 1990, and remained there for seven weeks. “Titanic” shows no signs of slowing yet. Indeed, the movie had higher grosses this weekend than when it opened Dec. 19. It now ranks as the 14th highest grossing film of all time.
