Twelve of the city’s top Police and Fire Department managers will receive pay raises of at least 6.5% over the next year.
The City Council this week unanimously approved the managers’ contracts, outlining a number of raises and benefits.
Two police captains and six lieutenants will get pay increases of at least 6.5% by Dec. 26. Currently, the average annual salary is about $93,000 for a captain and about $78,000 for a lieutenant.
Four fire battalion chiefs will get a 9.5% pay hike by Aug. 22. Their current annual salaries average about $77,000.
In addition to the raises, the managers will get additional pay for a bachelor’s degree and be reimbursed for tuition costs for classes taken at accredited colleges and universities.
