Super Bowl Sunday: Eat, Drink and Party

All-you-can-eat buffets. Kamikazes for 75 cents. Tri-tip sandwiches. Green Bay Burgers. Beer specials. Food specials. Dips--the kind you put a chip in--galore.

Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest party days of the year, and sports bars and restaurants in the region have been filling up their drink taps and stockpiling their refrigerators in preparation for the invasion of hungry Packer and Bronco fans.

“It’s the second biggest day, next to St. Patrick’s Day,” said a representative from McGinty’s sports bar in Ventura.

Those who want to stuff themselves before the 3 p.m. game won’t find a better buffet than the $21.95 brunch at the Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas.

There are 10 separate food bars, including pasta, seafood, salad, dessert and omelete. There’s caviar, turkey and ham. There will be 15 TVs and one big screen set up along with a large tent. It opens at 9 a.m., with brunch going until 3:30 p.m.

Tree House Sports Bar & Grill in Simi Valley has 50 TVs and is offering an all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink special for $50. You get prime rib and roasted turkey along with your favorite margarita, among other items.

At Weber’s in Reseda, kamikazes will go for 75 cents after any interception. A pound of shrimp and a pitcher of beer cost $9.99.

With a new state law banning smoking in bars, Rookies in Agoura could be a favorite hangout among smokers because it has an outside patio where patrons can light up.
