Competition
As a resident of Studio City since 1955, I am totally opposed to permitting any business to have a monopoly in this area, specifically to allowing Ralphs to place a third store within one mile on Ventura Boulevard (“Market Value,” Jan. 19). I propose that Ralphs be persuaded to sell the Hughes store to another food chain, which would allow residents to have a choice on where to shop for food. Should Ralphs be permitted to take over Hughes, there is no doubt but that prices would rise and services lower.
