Planning Official to Run for Council

Moorpark Planning Commissioner Keith Millhouse said Tuesday he plans to run for a seat on the City Council--the first challenger to announce a bid.

Three seats on the council are open in November and all the incumbents--Mayor Pat Hunter and Councilmen Bernardo Perez and John Wozniak--are seeking reelection.

Millhouse, 37, has served on the Planning Commission since 1996. He is an attorney for a Westlake-based law firm specializing in environmental and real estate law.

Millhouse was the only planning commissioner to oppose a development agreement for the Hidden Creek Ranch project, a massive housing development expected to increase the city’s population by one-third.

“I have grave concerns about a project of that magnitude and the impact it would have on the Campus Canyon area,” he said.

Millhouse, however, does favor streamlining the city’s approval process for developments.

Millhouse was raised in Calabasas and moved to Moorpark in 1986. He has a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from Pepperdine University.
