Re “Soccer Celebration Turns Rowdy,” June 26: I find it most difficult to accept celebrating the winning of a soccer game by contemptuous, riotous, property-destroying conduct. I find it even more disturbing that the flags being waved were not American.

If the homeland of most of the celebrators was such a great place then why are they here? They came to this land of opportunity for a better life; therefore, it would appear reasonable that some allegiance and respect should be shown to the country that affords them pleasurable living with a future for them and theirs. To destroy what others before you built in furtherance of the American dream is contemptuous. Maybe they should consider boarding one of those trains or buses that leave Los Angeles traveling south daily and return to their homeland.
