Seminar Will Examine Blend of Music, Film

The art of blending music and film will be the subject of the four-week “Movie Music Makers” seminar at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Composition, songwriting, orchestration and film scoring will be featured in each three-hour session, hosted by academy music branch governor Charles Bernstein.
The workshops begin at 7 p.m. July 15 and continue on consecutive Wednesdays through Aug. 5 at the Academy Little Theater, 8949 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills.
Academy Award-winning lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Academy Award nominees Arthur Hamilton and Bruce Broughton, and composers Basil Poledouris and Mark McKenzie are scheduled to share their insights.
Tickets for the seminar are $80, $60 for academy members and students with valid identification. Space is limited.
