Alley Cleanup Program to Begin

A four-month alley maintenance program is scheduled to start Monday in Oxnard as part of a citywide effort to clean up and improve neighborhoods.

Workers from the city’s streets division will go neighborhood by neighborhood, performing weed abatement, patching potholes and removing illegally dumped items, street supervisor Ray Williams said.

The alley program differs from the city’s annual neighborhood cleanup program in which people are allowed to place debris and other items in alleys for removal. That activity will result in a citation, Williams said.

The alley maintenance program is expected to conclude Oct. 31.
