Walks, Talks, Shows and Special Sales

Saturday: A Festival of Bugs with talks on interesting insects, biological control and on some of the new pests in our area, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Canada Flintridge, (818) 952-4401. Adults, $5; seniors and students, $3; children, $1. Reservations requested.

Saturday: Class on cooking with home-grown herbs, 10 a.m.-noon, at the Arboretum of Los Angeles County, 301 N. Baldwin Ave., Arcadia, (626) 447-8207. $13.

Saturday-July 12: National Cactus and Succulent Show and Sale, with more than 1,000 plants on view, 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., the Huntington Botanical Gardens, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, (626) 405-2141. Adults, $8.50; seniors, $7; students $5; children, free. There will be a special preview sale, open to the public, the day before--Friday--from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
