From Times Wire Reports

A man returning home from a hospital with his dying wife was forced to wait to board a ferry for two hours after workers claimed the couple had not followed the rules to get “priority loading.” Kathleen Lee-Geist, 42, died of a brain tumor June 21, two days after she and her husband were refused priority loading status at the dock of the Anacortes ferry, the only way for them to return to their home on the San Juan Islands. Lee-Geist had a note from her doctor asking that she be allowed on the ferry immediately, but workers refused because it wasn’t received 24 hours in advance.
