Thousand Oaks’ ‘Eyebrows’

Share

* I am deeply thankful that the south building of Thousand Oaks’ former city hall has been refurbished and is now occupied by such a respected tenant as the National Park Service. But it is unfortunate that the job is only half done.

The larger north building is still abandoned after a decade and vulnerable to additional vandalism and decay.

Former City Manager Grant Brimhall took full responsibility for the condition of these buildings. He eventually secured the agreement for lease of the south building. I hope our new city manager, with the approval of the City Council, will take proactive steps to refurbish and occupy the north building.

I think the success of our south building is evidence enough to promote the preservation of our city’s most visible landmark--”the eyebrows on the hill.”
