Ventura Freeway to Get Repairs This Week
Several lanes of the Ventura Freeway in the West Valley will be closed at night this week to repair damage caused by the heavy El Nino rains, state officials said.
The work, which is expected to be completed Saturday, will affect traffic through Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Agoura Hills and Westlake Village, said Jeanne Bonfilio, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation.
“The work that Caltrans is doing is considered an emergency job because of a large number of potholes caused by El Nino,” Bonfilio said. “The large amounts of water did quite a bit of damage that needs to be repaired.”
The sections expected to be closed include at least three northbound lanes and three southbound lanes between Lost Hills and Lindero Canyon roads. The lanes were to be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. today and then again tonight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday.
From 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday, four of the five southbound lanes will be closed for repairs between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Canoga Avenue.
