KIDS’ DAY--Children 12 and younger admitted free all day.

10 RIDES FOR $10--Buy a special wristband and get 10 rides for $10. Valid any Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, opening until close, for rides in the major and kiddie midways. Good for all ages. Does not include gate admission.

PINK CAR DAY--As a tie-in to the theme, pink cars park for free all day (a $4 savings). The entire car must be pink.

* Opening Ceremonies--The fair kicks off its 17-day run with a “pink” medley of song, dance and entertainment. Includes the All-American Boys Chorus, Colony Dancers, 12-piece swing orchestra presented by Jim Christensen Band and the Big Shots, Johnny Pink, Pinkman, Have Trunk Will Travel, pink cars and Mary Kay Cadillacs.

* Buffalo Bend Stage--Steve Lord, guitarist/singer. Show times vary.

* Common Threads (Front Gate)-- Fiber arts demonstrations including spinning, weaving, dyeing and felting. Exotic sheep exhibit and fiber arts boutique also featured. Open to 11 p.m. daily.

* Collectors Corner (Building 13)--Collections and special feature exhibits: fuchsia lore; vintage clothing of the 1940s; hand-woven fabric and sampler made by a schoolgirl in 1835; antiques; memorabilia; and gems and minerals.

* Fiber Palace (Silo Complex)--Fiber exhibits and demonstrations involving cotton, hemp, silk, flax, wool and paper. Open to 11 p.m. daily.

* Fiber Palace Patio (Silo Complex Patio)--Alpaca and llama exhibit, and fiber spinning. Open to 11 p.m. daily.

* Fish Building (Building 15)--Saltwater and freshwater fish and reptiles on display each day throughout the fair.

* Floral Building (Building 8) Pink Fantasy Garden--Two large bird cages with pink and red birds and large saltwater fish and reef tanks are on display.

* Grounds Acts--Doggies of the Wild West, Maureen W. Puppet, Traveling Game Show, BJ & the Puppet Truck.

* Kids’ Park & Stage--University of Fun open daily. Picasso’s Children’s Art Center, 1-8 p.m. arts and crafts, sand box and toddler area open to 6:30 p.m. daily. A special contest takes place every hour from opening to 6 p.m.

* Livestock--Livestock and small animals are on display from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Livestock Area. Daily egg-laying contest from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the Small Animal Tent.

* Main Gate--Clown Patrol: Mark Wenzel-Mime, PJ the Clown, Mickey, Sweetie, Veekay, Kupid and Sugarbabe, until 7:30 p.m.

* Pink Pagoda (Front Gate)--Fuchsia Society exhibit including live flowers, crafts and lectures, and sale items. Open to 11 p.m. each day.

* Sheepy Hollow (Livestock Area)--Wool spinning and felting demonstrations. Sheep and wool crafts for sale. Various sheep breeds on display. Open to 11 p.m. daily, with demonstrations at 2 and 5 p.m.

* Times Heritage Stage-- “Swingtime at the Heritage Stage,” a Big Band/swing fest every night from 7 to 11 p.m. A zoot suit fashion show starts off the night from 7 to 7:10 p.m. Swing dance lessons from 7:10 to 7:30 p.m. Johnny Pink and the Big Shots swing in with the Big Band sounds of the 1940s from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. “Swingtime!” dance contest nightly from 9 to 10 p.m. Open dancing is every night with Johnny Pink and the Big Shots and a guest band from 8:15 to 9 p.m. and 10 to 11 p.m.

* Various Stages--Billy & the Boomer, Willy’s Washboard Jamboree, Grin & Barrett Jugglers, ventriloquist Don Bryan & Noseworthy. Show times vary.

* Visual Arts (Building 12)--The Southern California Indian Center has on display Native American artifacts. Arts Orange County has artwork on display.

* Wine Courtyard--Walter Colvin from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

* Youth in Motion Building (Building 16)--Community weaving projects in the Craft Area from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Special contests for kids available daily at 2 and 4 p.m. The Cotton Ball “Guessing Game” daily from opening to close.
