Week’s Highs Forecast to Stay Under 100
After a week of record-setting heat in the Valley, forecasters are predicting slightly cooler afternoon temperatures through Friday.
Chatsworth, which hit 108 on Thursday, is expected to cool to 97 today, said Rob Krohn, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
The mildest spot in the Valley is expected to be Burbank, which should reach a high of 92, Krohn said. Woodland Hills and Van Nuys should see highs of 96 and 95 degrees, respectively.
Similar temperatures are expected Tuesday, he said.
The mercury will dip as cloud cover moves in from San Bernardino County.
Through Friday, morning lows should range from the mid- to upper 60s.
Today’s ultraviolet index at noon, when the sun’s rays are most direct, is expected to be 9. People with fair skin will begin to burn after seven minutes of exposure.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will begin with morning low clouds and fog, giving way to mostly sunny skies and temperatures ranging from the low to mid-90s.
