Albert Belle was charged with domestic battery Monday for allegedly hitting a woman and then ripping her phone from the wall as she tried to call for help.

Stephanie Bugusky, 25, won a temporary order of protection against the Chicago White Sox outfielder at a hearing in Chicago. He was released on a $3,000 signature bond and was at Comiskey Park a few hours later for a game against the Cleveland Indians.

“I have no information on it,” White Sox Manager Jerry Manuel said.

In another domestic violence case, the ex-girlfriend of pitcher Livan Hernandez testified in Miami that the Florida Marlin pitcher punched her, slapped her, kicked her and once pinned her down and plucked the hairs off her head one-by-one.

Alina Elgarresta said that even after the abuse began, she accepted $22,000 for a down payment on a Porsche and an engagement ring worth almost $17,000 from last year’s World Series MVP.

Elgarresta, who testified for 90 minutes in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, seeks a permanent restraining order against Hernandez.

Billy Wagner, who was knocked to the ground by a line drive last Wednesday, was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Houston Astros. The move was retroactive to July 16. . . . Robby Albertus, a highly touted 16-year-old left-hander from Aruba, signed a 1999 contract with the Atlanta Braves. Albertus already throws an 88-mph fastball.
