For Openers, Bryan Gets Agassi

Bob Bryan of Camarillo has received a wild-card entry into the singles draw of the Mercedes-Benz Cup at the Los Angeles Tennis Center at UCLA. Bryan will face Andre Agassi in a first-round match at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Bob and his brother, Mike, will compete in doubles later in the week. The tournament, which runs Monday through Aug. 2, marks their first appearance in Southern California since they left Stanford to turn professional this summer.

The Mercedes-Benz doubles draw will include two additional sets of brothers--Luke and Murphy Jensen, the so-called “rock ‘n’ roll” team, and Byron and Wayne Black, who recently led Zimbabwe to a first-round upset of Australia in Davis Cup play.
